Police lay charges in Altona liquor store Break and Enter

About $500 worth of hard liquor was stolen on April 7 from Altona Cleaners and More. The thief smashed through the store's glass front door to gain access.

On April 7, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Altona Police Service members responded to an intrusion alarm at Altona Cleaners and More.
Upon arrival police noted that the glass front door had been smashed with a heavy object.
It was quickly determined that approximately $500 worth of hard liquor had been stolen.
Just before noon on April 7, police were contacted by a citizen wanting a person removed from his apartment as he was highly intoxicated.
Upon arrival the person was gone, and police tracked him down at another home where he was found passed out.
Before they could enter the home, police had to extinguish a fire. When police entered the occupied home, smoke was bellowing out of the open front door, police noted that the element of the stove was red hot and two pieces of meat were burning on it.
Police arrested and charged the 25 year old man with Break, Enter and Theft. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date in Altona.
There was sufficient evidence to make the arrest. Police believe the man did not act alone, they continue to investigate with further charges anticipated.
