Sneak peek at Dawson's Landing gives early birds first choices in new community

House hunters will have the chance to get to know a new Chestermere community and the home options it provides before its grand opening later this year.

An open house sales event for Dawson’s Landing will be held at the Lakeside Golf Club from 5 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 22. The community, which will build out to 1,305 homes, is master-planned by Qualico Communities, the same developer behind Calgary communities such as Crestmont, Redstone and Evanston.

Dawson’s Landing marks Qualico’s first community in the small city just east of Calgary.

Representatives from Qualico and the builder group for Dawson’s Landing will be on-hand at the event to share details and answer questions about the community and homes, respectively.

“It will be a good one-on-one experience,” says Laura Field, marketing co-ordinator for Qualico. “We know that there’s a lot of excitement and people are really wanting to know more.”

Those who attend the event will also hear benefits offered by the developer for being among the first to buy in the community.

Sales have already started at Dawson’s Landing with the bulk of interest coming from existing residents of Chestermere, and people living in southeast and northeast Calgary, says Field.

A grand opening will be held once its show home parade, comprised of five models, is complete this spring. The show homes will demonstrate front-drive single-family homes from the $490,000s, bungalows from the $470,000s, laned homes from the mid-$300,000s, and laned duplexes from the low $300,000s. In all cases, these prices include the lot and GST.

Builders in Dawson’s Landing include Morrison Homes, Broadview Homes, NuVista Homes, Sterling Homes, and Trico Homes. They will have floor plan and pricing available at the open house and offer the ability to put a hold on or purchase a home, as well.

Among the advantages to living in this community are its connections, says the developer.

“Dawson’s Landing is in a great location to commute ito Calgary ” says Field. “There are also tons of amenities around Chestermere. You have Chestermere Lake and a lot of different shops and dining around Chestermere.”

“Within the community, itself, there are going to be some great features,” she adds, singling out plans for decorative street lamps, a landscaped traffic circle, boardwalk style entry feature, ponds, and off-leash dog areas.

“There will also be an EcoPark, which will be one of the highlights of the community once it’s complete,” says Field, of the space that will include some existing wetlands.
