New MSF Pageant Queen crowned

Nothing could have surprised Catrina Tomchuk more than hearing her name announced as the 2010 Manitoba Sunflower Festival Queen.
"While I was waiting on stage and I saw those 13 deserving girls I thought, no way am I going to win it," she said.
Tomchuk did win it, along with new 1st princess Erika Rempel and 2nd princess Erica Dueck. Tomchuk was also chosen as Miss Congeniality while Micaela Caceres was named Miss People's Choice.
Tomchuk said one of the highlights was simply making new bonds and friendships along the way.
That made the final wait a little tougher. "All the girls were deserving," she said. "It's really too bad we didn't have 14 (crowns) to give out."
Tomchuk said she especially enjoyed this year's fashion show, which for the first time introduced team work in some musical numbers. "It was lots of fun," she said.
Tomchuk said the pageant owes a lot to organizers Sandra Klassen, Lorraine Nickel and Rachel Smith, who dedicated their time to the event.
